World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like an ideally broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Many weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. In some instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it requires more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a good aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. For items that only see use in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance), upgrading them may render them useless unless you get a lucky roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their performance. This can increase the defense base of a chest or helm while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it could change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain when upgrading, as well as the values of these stats. You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four fountains in all and each one requires you to complete a specific side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the corresponding fountain and then you can speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. In general, you're looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in cold environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron, it drains the liquid and refills the bottle.
